Light Pink

I had four wall lights stashed away with two three arm ceiling lights to match that i had picked up forever ago......

Here is one of the wall lights below in its original  brass finish.....i needed two ceiling lights for the kitchen at Shingle Cottage and while going through my ever growing collection of treasures to be made over i came across the ceiling lights and thought 'hmmmmmmm? the pretty china would work but what about the brass?' and then i remembered my new best friend Annie Sloan Chalk Paint!!!

So after Steve fitted them for me i grabbed my Antoinette  and Old Ochre Chalk Paint and began painting.....i love how the brassware looked like icing on a cake after it was painted and it seemed fitting for a kitchen...
I painted the candle covers below to match and while it was drying i gave the ceiling another coat of Rose Trellis paint,it looks it's true pink now that it has had two coats of paint.....
The ladies on the avenue really loved my china chandeliers when they were all finished and up on the pink ceiling.......
We have lights!!!....it makes Shingle Cottage feel so much more like home....i will be happy next week when we can fit the little ceiling roses properly once the ceiling is dry.......
I can see some custom little light shades coming up or much prettier bulbs!..........
We also hung a plate rack below on the cladded wall to decide if we liked it or not...the wall will be painted in a butter milk colour and i think i will paint the plate rack the same colour if it stays there..... if we go through the kitchen door into the hall......
You can see that we hung a french basket chandelier at one end and an Italian lantern light at the other and  i also painted the little table at the end in Annie Sloan Old White...Steve had fitted the new floor boards through out the hall and fitted the skirting board too.....
Shingle Cottage has a little glamour now...i can not wait to paint all these floors white......
Looking back from where the little table is stood this used to be the view into the kitchen not too long ago......
It now looks like this below......i think we can finally say we are starting to get somewhere......We can see light at the end of the tunnel .....The old doorway from the kitchen now is a  finished cladded wall....
We go left at the end now instead of straight on to the kitchen.....you can just see the pink wall cupboards at the top in the doorway......
The weather was beautiful again this weekend and during a break i stood on the cliff top and watched a girl and her dog  run and play on the beach...it looked like heaven to me,so peaceful.....so blue....while two friends enjoyed their journey together...
I was thinking of the work i wanted to get finished...i wonder what the girl on the beach was thinking about?.....
Meanwhile my friend was thinking that i would like a bunch of her home grown sweet peas....she had hand picked  me a posy of sweet peas to take back with me,such a beautiful thought...they smell divine and the colours are beautiful...i am going to grow some next year for our garden i think they would lovely in a vase with blousy roses......
I am going to have a read of some of your blogs now before bed to see what you have all been up to over the weekend....

I hope you enjoyed catching up with the goings on at Shingle Cottage........ See you next time!....

It looks lovely~what a pretty set of kitchen lights you have, they kind of remind me of the one in the shop with the ceramic roses that hang instead of crystals..your sconces are divine. 5. I just recently found your blog. I am really enjoying your cottage make over. I have read your older blog posts and was very disappointed that the rest was lost in blog land. Love the pink kitchen. You said you like Betsy Speert's books - I read her blog, so I decided to order them. Linda P. Bakersfield, California

  7. The lighting has really added so much beauty and character to the cottage, the jewelry for the cottage. And such beautiful lights, as well. The ocean is so beautiful with such a private pristine beach, uncluttered with tourists--it all looks like a little slice of heaven. You must be getting very excited to finish the cottage and making it home. It will be perfect. Just perfect. And I am glad that you are sharing it all with us. Have a great week.
