It's Easter Time again and the cockerel is telling one and all!
We have been busy here at Shingle Cottage getting our home ready for the celebrations, daffodils have been picked from our gardens, my favourite are the one's with the orange centre, I always think they look oldy wordy like the Easter vases high up on a church window ledge.
Our painted glass eggs have been hung above the dining table where they catch the light..... fingers crossed for a little sunshine..
The tiny Easter tree has been decorated and a new to me but old linen tablecloth has been washed and pressed for the table, I found it last week in a charity shop and the embroidery is so fine and delicate, violets and snowdrops grow all around the edge and in the centre a fairy ring of little buds..
Eggs and chicks are brightening up the cottage kitchen...
From the kitchen window wafts the heavy scent of white hydrangea picked from the garden with a few golden daffodils..
Along the window ledge, a pot of forget me not's that I grew from seed, tiny daffodils and pansies, a cheery sight while washing the dishes and upon opening the curtains first thing on a morning..
Fairy cakes in paper bun cases have been baked and decorated, Steve and Beatrix have been enjoying them this afternoon..
I have been measuring and whisking and rolling out marzipan in the kitchen to bake one of our favourite cakes the simnel cake, it smells heavenly..
Chocolate eggs have been delivered to our friends and we brought a bag home from them too, cards have been sent, all making for a Happy Easter!.. I want to say a big thank you to Steve for popping down to town especially for the yellow ribbon to tie around our simnel cake and he scores extra points for choosing the sparkly one over the plain ;)
I love Easter and I am so enjoying the lighter nights too and the promise of Spring are you? I think we may be enjoying some walks on these lighter nights after eating all these goodies!
I would like to wish you a Happy Easter and may your weekend be blessed x
He Is Risen...
I hope you enjoy a chocolate egg or two :) Happy Easter!
Will you join me next time for more tales and goings on from Shingle Cottage ?....
